1,980 steps in the Towers that fell on 9/11. That’s 17 times up & down the 120 steps in the Lake Co. Fairgrounds Grandstand. Each participant will be given the name of one of the 412 emergency workers (including 343 firefighters) who lost their lives on that day.

About the Event:
Stair Climb: There were 1,980 steps in the Towers that fell on 9/11. That’s 17 times up & down 120 stairs in the Lake Co. Fairgrounds Grandstand. You will be given 17 pennies, dropping off 1 after each lap completed. When your pennies are gone, you are finished! Are you up for the challenge?
— Cost: $25 thru 9/10. Kids 3-12 are $15, Under 3 are free. Includes medal. Shirts extra $16 thru 9/3.
— Police, Firefighter & EMTs: Save $9.11 by using code 911 at checkout when registering online. Please show proof of service (badge, ID, etc) at packet pickup. Event day: $30 all ages & no Finisher Medal.
Statue of Liberty Climb: Smaller climb of 354 steps (the number of steps in the Statue of Liberty) is also available. Cost: $20. Includes Finisher Medal. Shirts extra $16 thru 9/3. Event day: $30.
1 MIle Non-timed Walk has been added this year for those who don’t wish to do stairs but still want to participate to honor our 9/11 Heroes. Cost $20. Includes Finisher Medal. Shirts extra $16 thru 9/3. Event day: $30.
Before the event, all participants will be given the name of a Firefighter or Police Officer who died on 9/11 & for whom they will be climbing. This will allow you to look up your hero & even bring their picture with you. (List will be updated before event).
Event supports: raising money for local Police & Fire and Frist Responders to provide them with necessary equipment that the City may not budget for but will help them in doing their job – keeping it safe for them while they protect our community!
Who is YOUR First Responder? The list at the TOP matches participants with the name of the 9/11 Hero for whom they will be climbing. Please research your Hero & print a photo of them to include in our on-site memorial.
Event Timeline:
4:30 – 6p – Sign in. Participants can place
Hero photos on our Memorial Wall.
5 – 6:15p – “Fast” Division – Running stairs.
6:15p – National Anthem. Honoring local
First Responders. General Climb & Walk.
