Talk Around Town Tuesday, February 26th, 2019 By Lisa J.
St. Patrick’s Day and the St. Pat’s One Miler is just around the corner and we are hyped! Not only are we excited for the run, but the cause Hometown is promoting is one made of rainbows and hearts of gold.
Buddy Bags, a program providing kids in need with food to keep them energized through the weekend, was an idea borrowed and brought here to Crown Point by First United Methodist Church’s Director of Outreach Missions, Bonnie Meyer.
Buddy Bags began in 2017 as a way to assist children on the free lunch program with weekend supplemental nutrition. While it started small, the program continues to expand throughout the Crown Point area, now serving both MacArthur and Timothy Ball.
To learn more about this incredible program, how to donate and/or volunteer, check out Hometown’s “Feel Good Friday” article this Friday. Also, as an added bonus, find out why the interview with Bonnie contained a fun fact that had me heading to the bookstore.
