The Hometown Market will feature a variety of vendors with diverse backgrounds and products! We are excited to get to know our vendors a little better! Check out this blog to learn about their successes, challenges, and dreams for the future!
This week we get to know Celia Shaughnessy, co-owner of Vada’s Bowtique.
Why did you start your business?
We started Vada’s Bowtique to help complete each outfit for Vada. Vada was born in March 2020 smack dab in the middle of the Pandemic lock down. It was difficult to keep our minds off of the news, so crafting and making adorable outfits for my newborn baby really helped keep our minds off of the craziness going on around us. Naturally, I thought other moms would want their kids to look cute too, even with no place to go.
What has been your biggest success or proudest moment so far in operating your business?
Biggest success: reaching 100+ orders in less than 5 months!
Proudest moment: seeing something you made with your hands worn by our customers, friends, and family! All our products are handmade, so you’re getting something that’s one of a kind.
What are some challenges you have faced and how did you overcome them?
This is a part time gig for both Sara and I. We both have full time jobs, add kids to the mix and it can be hard to find enough hours in the day to fulfill orders and find a good balance. We have gotten the kiddos involved. Gavin (3 years old) helps put stickers and adds a piece of candy on every order, Vada (1 year) is a great model for all upcoming launches and we make it fun and get the whole family involved.
What is your biggest dream regarding your business?
Biggest dream as of right now is to get more wholesale accounts and continue to grow Vada’s Bowtique.
