- 1873: Susan B. Anthony speaks to an audience at Cheshire Hall, located on the southeast corner of the Square.
- 1896:– Presidential candidate William Jennings Bryan addresses a crowd from the Courthouse steps.
- 1909: Louis Chevrolet wins the Cobe Cup auto race, a predecessor to the Indianapolis 500.
- 1920’s & 1930’s: Many famous people choose to marry in Crown Point including Ronald Reagan, Rudolph Valentino, Muhammed Ali & Tom Mix.
- 1934: America’s first “Public Enemy”, John Dillinger, escapes from an “escape proof” jail using a wooden gun.
