Because of you, our events so far this year have been a great success and we have so much for which to be grateful. We started with the Pajama 5K. Over 75 people, many in their PJs, came out to brave the cold and they all had a blast doing it! This event raised money for the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana, St. Jude House and local food pantries.
The Beast Boot Camp 5K in May had over 200 participants challenge themselves against the US Marines. Some new twists were added to the course while still keeping favorites like carrying the military packs up and down the Grandstand steps. We raised money to send all the Marines to their Marine Corps Ball this fall as well as treated local veterans to meals at local restaurants.
Kids in Capes moved to June this year. The rainy weather conditions made planning difficult. Still we had over 200 participants, over 30 superheroes and clear skies throughout the event! One boy said to his Mom, “This is the best day of my entire life!” That meant a lot! This event supported Girls on the Run and the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana.
The Public Enemy 5K Run & Walk is a seasonal favorite. Besides the run, the over 300 participants enjoyed vintage cars, a police K-9 demonstration and a police helicopter landing. Proceeds from this event benefited the Crown Point Police K-9 unit, the NWI Regional SWAT team and the Lake County Animal Shelter. This event also earned an “outstanding rating” from the Calumet Region Striders!
Again, Thank You for your support! It means a LOT!
