Last Fall, my neighbor asked if Hometown Happenings would invest in her Girl Scout troop. She then presented a plan as to how the money would be used. Through their hard work and efforts, they have made a lasting contribution to our community. Hometown Happening is so proud of their accomplishment! Congratulations, girls, on both the award and the vital role you play in our community!:
Four Crown Point girls have earned the Bronze Award, the highest award a Junior Girl Scout can earn. Members of Troop 30277 have been working since 2011 to complete requirements to earn the award. Requirements included completing a Girl Scout Journey, team building, discovering a need in the community and a service project which provides a lasting solution to the problem. The girls worked with St. Anthony nursing home and provided magazine subscriptions and a magazine rack for the residents there. To purchase these items they used profits from their sales. In the fall Girl Scouts sell nuts, candies and magazines and the Girl Scout cookie sale runs from January through March. They also accepted donations, and acquired a corporate sponsor, Hometown Happenings, also of Crown Point. The girls recently went to St. Anthony’s to present their project. They were also able to share a few songs and a folk dance, and visit with the residents.
